Control Configuration Changes in a Boat Order
Keep one agreed bill of materials and written change log.

Create one accepted package list
Give the boat, floor, accessories, propulsion and packaging identifiable line items. Include model or revision references where available. This list becomes the common basis for quotes, purchase approval, inspection and delivery reconciliation.
Make substitutions visible
Require proposed alternatives to identify the affected line item and the practical difference. Similar appearance is insufficient for parts with different fit, material or documentation. Keep unapproved substitutions outside the accepted configuration.
Track changes with decisions
Record who requested a change, the reason, supplier response and the effects on price, packing or timing. Use dated revisions rather than scattered messages. A concise decision record reduces disagreements at the packing stage.
Reconcile the final shipment
Before dispatch, compare the packing list and available order photographs to the accepted revision. Mark exceptions for resolution. A delivery count alone cannot confirm that the right versions of all included components were supplied.
Procurement checklist
- Give each package item a clear identity.
- Require written substitution proposals.
- Reconcile dispatch against the accepted revision.
